dead rodent disposal

Rodent entry elimination: We see many attempts by handymen, pest control companies, and Macomb County, Michigan rodent extraction companies that do not include the removal of any roofing material. Often the prevention includes the emptying of a can of foam into the void. Without the removal of roofing material, there is no assurance that rodent entry will be eliminated. When we encounter these substandard attempts, we must first remove the previous application.  When this includes foam, the extraction of the foam takes longer than the application of our wire prevention product.

Rodent elimination by those who are not insured exposes you, the Macomb County, Michigan homeowner, to unnecessary liabilities. It is in your best interest to request proof of insurance for worker’s compensation and public liability before work begins on your roof. It’s doubtful that you will find these companies or individuals carry such insurance.  Those who do not often work in this environment typically cannot afford expensive roofing insurance.

Roof Rats are commonly called black rats and are smaller than Norway rats. Plug or seal all openings of greater than 1/2 inch (1. Rat Bite Fever - from the saliva of a rat, it comes from rats biting humans. It is recommended for use in homes because, unlike with poison baits, there is no risk of a rat dying in an inaccessible place and creating an odor problem. In dense populations, roof rats will establish a social hierarchy, wherein dominant males mate more than subordinate males. Any reputable nuisance wildlife company will have spent money on licensing, liability insurance, and a host of other business expenses. Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome is transferred via inhalation of rodent urine, droppings or saliva. Their presence is typically detected by the occurrence of their droppings, holes chewed into bags and containers, and chewed nesting materials. Shooting is rarely effective by itself and should be done in conjunction with trapping or baiting programs. Most commercial baits are registered for both species of rats and for house mice, but often they are less acceptable to roof rats than to the other species. Avoid using poison and glue traps, as these are inhumane and cause more problems than they solve.

While you will not reasonably be able to compensate for every possible rodent entry, you can greatly reduce the ease of entry for rodents (and thereby, reduce the population size) by taking the following measures: The Norway rat is generally considered the most important rat in the United States. Norway rats are usually active at dusk or during the night and are inactive during daylight hours. Both roof rats and Norway rats have a well-developed sense of smell and are wary of new things that are introduced into their home range. These devices must be viewed with considerable skepticism, because research has not proven them effective. Adult females are able to reproduce at 3-5 months old, can produce up to five litters each year with about 5-8 young in each litter. It actually makes it worse, because the rats are multiplying, dying, defecating, destroying insulation, chewing wires and chewing air ducts, while you wait for your next service.

  • Will a rat in the attic have a nest of babies?

They need not be baited. Roof rats are adept climbers and not surprisingly are apt to build their nests in locations above ground. You will never solve a rat problem until you find all of these openings, and seal them shut with steel, which rats are unable to chew through. Roof rats are also food hoarders, stashing supplies of food such as seeds and nuts. Rat droppings are three times as large as mouse droppings. Rodent-infested pallets of goods can be tarped and fumigated on an individual or collective basis. Other vegetable, melon, berry, and fruit crops occasionally suffer relatively minor damage when adjacent to infested habitat such as riparian vegetation. The first step in controlling a roof rat infestation is to properly identify the rodents.
