Genesee County, Michigan Rat Removal

Genesee County, Michigan Rat Control Services

critter removal from attic

Rodent entry elimination: We see many attempts by handymen, pest control companies, and Genesee County, Michigan rodent extraction companies that do not include the removal of any roofing material. Often the prevention includes the emptying of a can of foam into the void. Without the removal of roofing material, there is no assurance that rodent entry will be eliminated. When we encounter these substandard attempts, we must first remove the previous application.  When this includes foam, the extraction of the foam takes longer than the application of our wire prevention product.

Rodent elimination by those who are not insured exposes you, the Genesee County, Michigan homeowner, to unnecessary liabilities. It is in your best interest to request proof of insurance for worker’s compensation and public liability before work begins on your roof. It’s doubtful that you will find these companies or individuals carry such insurance.  Those who do not often work in this environment typically cannot afford expensive roofing insurance.

The advantages of trapping when compared to baiting include: 1) Trapping does not require the use of harmful poisons; 2) Trapping allows the user to know whether the rat was killed, whereas with baiting the rat will wander off and die somewhere else; 3) Trapping eliminates odor problems by allowing you to dispose of the rat carcass. These can be identified by the brown smudges of grease that comes from the rat's fur, and should all be sealed to prevent future rat infestations in the attic. POISON IS A HORRIBLE IDEA FOR MANY MANY REASONS - poison won't solve the problem, and it'll just create more problems. Roof rats are more aerial than Norway rats in their habitat selection and often live in trees or on vine-covered fences. Landscaped residential or industrial areas provide good habitat, as does riparian vegetation of riverbanks and streams. There are still outbreaks of plague in the United States and around the world today. Both roof rats and Norway rats have a well-developed sense of smell and are wary of new things that are introduced into their home range. Store pet food in sealed containers and do not leave it out at night. POISON IS A HORRIBLE IDEA FOR MANY MANY REASONS - poison won't solve the problem, and it'll just create more problems. Some traps should be placed on the floor, but more should be placed above floor level (for example, on top of stacked commodities). Place traps where they will intercept rats on their way to food, such as on overhead beams, pipes, ledges, or sills frequently used as travel routes (Fig.

Roof rat droppings are 12 to 13 mm with pointed ends, whereas Norway rat droppings are 18 to 20 mm and capsule shaped. Observation Rats are not usually seen during the day unless disturbed from their protective harborage or because of intolerable competition from other rats. Rats are nocturnal and are not commonly seen. In the third week they begin to take solid food. The damage control methods used for roof rats are essentially the same as for Norway rats. For more info on general rat control, go to my main rat removal page, or my extensive instructional how to get rid of rats page. In rare instances, isolated populations are found in areas not within their normal distribution range in the United States. Then the rats should be trapped and removed. The great adaptability of rats to human-created environments and the high fertility rate of rats make for quick recuperation of their populations. Our professional wildlife professionals may not show you how to kill the rats but instead use rat repellents, rat fumigants and rat trapping systems to ensure the effectiveness of the rat control method, without physically harming the rats. Floor drains and sewer pipes should have tight-fitting grates with openings less than 1/4 inch in diameter.

I highly recommend snap traps, not live cage traps, certainly not glue boards, and most definitely not poison! Never poison rats, it doesn't solve the problem and it just creates more problems. The underside of the roof rat’s body is grayish to white. This is why traps and bait stations may be avoided for a day or two. Droppings are another good indicator of roof rat activity. One of the more common techniques for bait use is to place the bait formulation in a tamper proof rodent bait station that protects the bait from accidental exposure to non-target animals or people. There are two basic methods of rat population reduction: Pocket gopher box-type traps (such as the DK-2 Gopher Getter) can be modified to catch rats by reversing the action of the trigger. Baiting - This method uses poisons, or rodenticides, to attract and kill rodents.
